Our wines are made by Neil Snare of Winstead Vineyard using traditional wine-making practices, small-batch fermentation and with minimal intervention. We recognise that good wine starts in the vineyard hence our focus on viticultural practises that ensure low yields and intensely flavoured grapes, and that results in high quality wines.
Current Release Wines
SAUVIGNON BLANC 2009
Good varietal herbaceous and tropical fruit tang with a subtle touch of oak providing depth and added body, lively, intense and a clean, persistent finish. Half fermented in old oak barrels - this takes the aggressive edges off the acids resulting in a softer, more complex wine.
GEWÜRZTRAMINER 2009
Fragrant rose petal, exotic spice and musk before more delicate Turkish Delight flavours with just a whisper of mid-palate sweetness, the finish fresh and crisp. Great to drink young but will age gracefully over many years.
NOUVEAU 2009 (sold out)
Produced from 100% Gamay – the wine is also made in the traditional Beaujolais Nouveau style using carbonic maceration. A final wild yeast ferment completes the process. Light, bright, strawberry and cherry flavours, fruity and refreshing.
PINOT NOIR 2007
Rich forest fruits, cherries and vanilla spice. Well balanced with subtle oak. Our Pinot Noirs are made in a long-lasting style, and will develop gracefully for several more years. The wine was aged for 12 months in reconditioned French oak barrels.
PINOT NOIR 2008
Dark plum-fruit colours and aromas, the palate savoury and spicy, with a lovely supple mouthfeel and firm finishing tannins promising a rewarding future. A touch of violets on the palate. The wine was aged for 12 months in a mix of new and old French oak.
